Street Pavements
For many years the residents of York Place lived with old, uneven, decrepit pavements and serious pooling of rainwater in the gutters. In 2016 an active 'Pavement Group' was formed by the Residents' Association, to liaise with the Council over the greatly needed upgrade of the street's rainwater drainage system and refurbishment of the kerbs and pavements.
In November 2016 the first of many planning meetings with Council representatives took place. The work itself commenced in March 2017 and was completed the following September.
A celebration street barbecue was held to mark the occasion, as reported in the Worcester News.
The pavements had a special protected status under a Section 58 order so they could not be dug up or damaged for routine maintenance of utility cables, pipes or ducting until the end of October 2022 (five years from the completion of works).
